Beginning SEO

November 6th, 2007 by jeremy

I’ve been trying to help my uncle with his baseball card website and noticed that some of the top search results for baseball cards are some rather unprofessional websites, I’m not even sure if a few of them are actually still updated. So in support of writing down goals my lofty goal is to make it to the first page of Google for the search term baseball cards. I know as the site stands it will be tough but I will give myself until November 1, 2008 to reach this because the Christmas holiday is really all that matters. He purchased another domain to sell mainly his toys, collectibles, and plush animals. That site will also be one I want to put alot of SEO into.

With that said I’d like to start a simple series of tutorials to put some of the things I have learned in one central location.

Upgraded to WordPress 2.3.1

November 1st, 2007 by jeremy

I have just recently starting looking into the whole blogosphere thing and I must say that I am really impressed with how easy to manage and upgrade WordPress is. The first site I did with it was my mother’s IAAP group and I’m considering just letting them update their blog due to its simplicity in writing and publishing posts. I doubt they ever will write much on it anyways but maybe if they do it themselves they will appreciate it more.

Mission Statement

I am a nobody. Well relating to design at least. I have been programming for over 4 years and have realized that I have a greater passion for web design than I have for anything else. Which is a dilemna for I have no artistic skills. My Bachelor’s Degree involved primarily development and I have no formal training on Photoshop, Illustrator and other tools needed to become a great designer.

That is the purpose of this blog. I plan to write about things that I am learning. To show the baby steps I am taking to become what I hope to be. Perhaps I might find a solution to a problem you’ve been having. I basically want to show you My Process of how I go about projects and accomplish tasks.

Enjoy the slow transition as I attempt to become a designer.
